Fruit leather is a tasty treat that travels nicely, but it can be tough to find options that aren’t loaded with extra sugar and don’t cost a bundle. Making your own is a little time-intensive, but it’s a cheap snack that can turn into a fun family activity on a lazy summer day.
Drying fruit puree to perfection might seem daunting at first, but it’s easy to get the hang of. If you overdry the fruit, no worries—just let it sit out to soften. Cut it into fun shapes with cookie cutters or roll it up for a healthier mimicry of popular prepared fruit snacks.
