Stressed? These delicious foods will chill you out.

Earlier this week, the Huffington Post published an article outlining seven healthy foods to relax your stressed-out mind and body. I didn’t even bother to click, figuring I would see the same old suspects. But for whatever reason, I checked it out today was so impressed with the suggestions that I thought I would share some of them with you.

Green Tea: Yes, it contains a small amount of caffeine. But according to the article, it also contains theanine, an anti-anxiety and sleep-promoting amino acid. People who drink tea are less stressed than those who don’t.

Whole Grains: A dish of oatmeal is at its core a carb, which helps to give you a big boost of energy in the morning. But because it’s full of fiber and takes longer to digest, it can improve your mood by lengthening the time your body secretes serotonin, a hormone intimately tied up in how happy you feel.

Citrus: Grabbing an orange can literally take the pressure off…your blood pressure, that is. The article explains that cortisol and blood pressure levels are lowered with a dose of vitamin C, meaning a tasty snack can help you rebound from stress.
