This hearty bean-based sauce can be served over your favorite pasta or used as a topping for a sloppy joe.
Ingredients
- 1 med. onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 oz.) can no-salt-added kidney beans
- 2 T. balsamic vinegar
- 2 T. tomato paste
- 1/2 t. smoked paprika
- 1/2 t. cayenne pepper
- 1 t. dried oregano
Directions
- Add onion and garlic to a large skillet with a few tablespoons of water. Cook until translucent.
- Add beans, balsamic vinegar, tomato paste, paprika, cayenne and oregano. Cook for 5-10 minutes. Add a bit more water if too thick. Mash beans to desired texture.
