Grapes and cabbage might seem like unusual partners for a savory dinner dish, but they work beautifully together with the aromatics to produce a rich flavor. If you’ve got grapes and cabbage waiting to be used up, this is a great dish for making sure they don’t go to waste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 4 dried shitake mushrooms, rehydrated and sliced
  • 4 cups sliced Napa cabbage
  • 2 cups halved red grapes
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil
  • Pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce

Directions

  1. Sauté onion in oil until tender (6-8 minutes).
  2. Add mushrooms, cabbage, grapes, basil, and pepper to onions and stir-fry until cabbage is crisp-tender (4-5 minutes).
  3. Combine water and cornstarch. Stir into cabbage.
  4. Add soy sauce and cook until sauce thickens (1-2 minutes). Serve.
