Slightly sweet, lightly spicy, and richly complex, ras el hanout is the spice blend at the heart of Moroccan cooking. While spice blends don’t offer enough calories per serving to rate for better or for worse, this blend deliberately leaves out the salt to make it easier for you to adjust the sodium levels in a recipe to suit your dietary needs.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • ¾ tsp. black pepper
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. ground coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp. cayenne
  • ½ tsp. ground allspice
  • ¼ tsp. ground cloves

Directions

  1. Whisk together all spices. Store in an airtight container.
