Use your favorite apple variety and play with the berries you add. There’s no need to peel the apples with this recipe either. Putting the mix through a food processor means you can reap the flavor, nutrition, and color of the skin without noticing them in the texture of your sauce.

Ingredients

  • 6 apples, quartered
  • 10 oz. raspberries
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • Pinch cinnamon
  • Pinch ginger
  • Pinch cardamom

Directions

  1. Bring all ingredients to a simmer in a large saucepan.
  2. Reduce heat to low, partially cover the pot, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is tender (25-30 minutes).
  3. Let cool before transferring fruit sauce to a blender or food processor (15 minutes). Purée to desired texture.
