Shrimp on its own is a great thing to include in your food rotation. Paired with cocktail sauce, it can end up adding a lot of salt and sugar to your day. If you love shrimp with cocktail sauce, this sauce provides tang and a little heat with a nice balance of nutrition.

Tip: If using wooden or bamboo skewers, soak in water for 10 minutes before threading with shrimp.

Ingredients

Green Sauce:

  • 1 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 clove garlic
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. lime juice
  • ¼ tsp. salt

Shrimp:

  • 2 lbs. large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • ¾ tsp. coriander
  • ¾ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¾ tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 12 Skewers
  • 3 limes, halved

Directions

  1. Heat grill to high.
  2. Blend all sauce ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Cover and refrigerate.
  3. Place shrimp in a bowl and toss with spices and olive oil to coat. Thread shrimp onto 12 skewers.
  4. Place skewers and lime halves on the grill. Close lid and cook, turning the skewers once, until shrimp are cooked through and lime halves have grill marks (2-3 minutes per side).
  5. Serve skewers immediately with sauce and limes on the side.
