Adding apple cider to the water you cook oatmeal in brings in a tartness that, paired with sweet pears and raisins, makes a flavorful dish. You’ll find this oatmeal doesn’t want any additional sugar.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • ¾ cup apple cider
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup diced pear
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • ¼ cup fat-free milk

Directions

  1. Bring water and apple cider to a boil in a large saucepan.
  2. Stir in oats; reduce heat to low, and cook, stirring occasionally (3 minutes).
  3. Add pear, raisins, cinnamon, and vanilla, stirring gently to combine; cook until oats are tender (3 minutes).
  4. Stir in pecans and milk.
